EAT MOR CHIKIN

“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” -Mark Twain

We’re taught in kindergarten to be kind to one another; to share our toys and respect our neighbors. So why is it that most adults struggle with this concept?

I mean think about it… if we are taught to be kind at such a young age, why do so many adults lose this concept over time?

I know… In the bustling everyday life that most of us live, it’s a struggle to even get out of bed. But to get out of bed and BE KIND?!?! Thats asking a lot.. don't you think?

This is how many of us live our lives. Most of us accept that having a mediocre attitude is the way we’ll go about our lives because, well… it’s easy.

At Chick-fil-A, we don’t accept easy.

The word “easy” isn’t even in our vocabulary. Because kindness isn't ALWAYS easy. However, it is ALWAYS worth it.

We choose to be a bright spot in the community. A place where “mediocre” is nothing more than an 8-letter word and GREATNESS is our lowest standard.

So order with one of our friendly and eager team members, get your food within seconds of ordering, ask for your 6 Chick-fil-A sauces and enjoy every bite of your juicy chicken sandwich.

And while you're enjoying, remember that nothing great comes from mediocrity. Let our food, service, and culture inspire you to be great too!

End Game

As most 19 year-old college kids would understand, I am at an age where I get asked about my future A LOT. Prior to working at Chick-fil-A, I had absolutely NO IDEA what I wanted to do with my future.

Me, being the dreamer that I am, contemplated many different career paths…

Did I want to become a movie star?

What if I ended world hunger?

SHOULD I JUST MOVE TO CALIFORNIA AND AUDITION FOR AMERICAN IDOL?!?!?!

While all of these things seemed like interesting career paths (to say the least), they were not exactly realistic…

In the midst of contemplating my future career, I applied for a job at Chick-fil-A. What started off as a job to pay for my gas and food, turned into a passion for serving others.

Going from someone who worked the cash register to the communications director at Chick-fil-A has made my future career path clear as day.

Like feeling fresh air from an open window, the doors opened for me at Chick-fil-A have allowed me to see my future so clearly.

It is for this reason that I say Chick-fil-A really is so much more than a job.

It is the open window you have been looking for. The stepping stone to the life you have always wanted.

Chick-fil-A is the future… My future!

"Choose Joy"

Over the course of my time at Chick-fil-A, SO MANY people have asked me questions about what it’s like to work there… In today’s blog, I’d like to give you guys some “insiders” on the world of Chick-fil-A based on questions I've been asked over the past year.

“How is the food made SO QUICKLY?!”
To answer this, it’s important to understand how important teamwork really is at Chick-fil-A (especially in the kitchen). There truly is NON-STOP teamwork that flows like clockwork. After all, having 4 hard workers is worth more than 10 lazy ones!

“What is in your Chick-fil-A sauce?”
According to Chick-fil-A corporation, our Chick-fil-A sauce is a blend of honey mustard, barbecue, and ranch! This sauce was said to be created when a Chick-fil-A location was loading the honey mustard into a pump dispenser, where it was accidentally mixed with barbecue sauce!

“How do you guys stay happy all the time?”
While it’s virtually impossible to stay happy ALL the time, remaining positive and keeping a smile on your face all boils down to the values of Chick-fil-A. With hard work and busy lunch rushes, there are hundreds of lives we are impacting with our food every single day. Keeping a positive manner helps to better the community and spread kindness in a world that is lacking. With a job like this, it’s impossible not to be grateful and choose joy!

"Why Write?"

I get many people who ask me why I write this blog...

In order to understand why I write, it is important to understand what this blog is all about first.

Whether this is your first time reading my blog or your 10th time, you should know my intense passion for writing.

When I mean writing, I don't mean writing school papers or obligatory "happy birthday" posts on my friend's Facebook pages.

I mean real writing. The type of writing that brings me to tears (in a good way).

I write this blog because Chick-fil-A has changed my life.

Growing up in a culture where being passive and non-enthusiastic is considered "cool," I have found myself standing out from the "in" crowd practically my entire life.

You see, I believe in being an enthusiast with EVERYTHING I do.

Whether I'm buying groceries or at the doctors office, I try to be as enthusiastic as possible.

Before working at Chick-fil-A, I worked at a clothing store where I was told by my boss's boss (an important guy who came to visit our store for the day... KIND OF a big deal) to be LESS enthusiastic.

I remember thinking "SERIOUSLY?!?!?! BUT THAT'S NOT WHO I AM! IT'S NOT IN MY NATURE! I REFUSE TO TONE MYSELF DOWN TO PLEASE SOMEONE ELSE!"

It was that day that I decided to leave my job and start working at Chick-fil-A.

Since then, I have found an atmosphere that not only accepts my exuberant personality, but applauds it.

Ladies and gentlemen, this is why I write.

I write because I refused to change who I was in order to please someone else. I simply found a place that accepts me for me.

I have never been happier.

All in all, I write because everyone deserves to be appreciated in their workplace.

"Choose a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life." -Confucius
