Ten Years of ServiceA LOT can happen in ten years! Ten years ago, the iPhone 3G was all the rage, former president Obama had sent more troops to Afghanistan, and oil prices were plummeting. Clearly a lot has changed since then. But what hasn't changed is the service and dedication that our operations director, Franklin, has blessed us with. The man behind the "magic" at our store. The one who leaves guests in awe of his speedy service. Keeping all of the team members engaged, making sure we aren't having TOO much fun at work. Franklin always has the answers. Need the stapler? Franklin definitely knows where it is... Have a problem with the food? Franklin will work it out... Forgot your name tag? Your name is Franklin now... Need a role model outside of work? Franklin is always there. 100% of the time. Because you see, we are a Chick-fil-A FAMILY. On and off the clock, we are there for each other. To the man who keeps the whole family together, Thank you. Franklin embodies what it means to be a team player. Using nothing but hard work to get to the top, Franklin is a hero for all of us at Chick-fil-A. It is people like him that make working here so special!

Cow Appreciation DayCow appreciation day is tomorrow!
And for those who are saying "yeah.. cows are cool and all but do they really need their own national holiday?!" UMMM, YES THEY DO! While we at Chick-fil-A appreciate the cows of the world, what we appreciate MOST is our guests. YOU are WHY we do WHAT we do. While seeing our guests dressed as cows is both hilarious and amusing, seeing the looks on guests faces when they are GIVEN a free meal is a feeling I cannot put into words. Our culture is to give back. For us, it is a way of life and something we take great pride in. So get your cow suit on, grab some friends and head over to Chick-fil-A tomorrow for some fun, food and as always, great service. Who? ALL OF YOU! What? Cow appreciation day (a.k.a free food) Where? Your local Chick-fil-A When? July 10th Why? Because WE appreciate YOU! How? Dress like a cow and just show up.... Seriously! We'll see you there! Independence DayWith Fourth of July right around the corner, it's only right to talk about independence! While our country is celebrating it's independence, I am reminded of how grateful I am for my own independence. With a flexible work schedule that allows me to travel and attend school full-time, I am grateful for the company that makes it all happen! At a young age, it is important to have a job... Teaching you valuable life skills, a job is simply necessary to fully "grow up" and mature into adulthood. With this in mind, it can be difficult to focus on school at the same time... Not to mention having fun and doing things you enjoy as well! Sometimes life can feel like a not-so-fun juggling act... but with Chick-fil-A, I have been able to travel the world, take five college classes while still working in the store AND still work my way up in the company... While this was no easy feat, (nothing worth having comes easy), it IS POSSIBLE. For those with grit. Those who will do all that they can to be the very best. Those who take life and make the very best of it.... Chick-fil-A is for YOU. "A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work." - Colin Powell Vacation BluesIt’s June 25th, 2018. I’m currently not in the United States, but on vacation in Mexico!
While this has been an amazing trip thus far, I have made some keen observations about the customer service on our ship. I have a habit of comparing all other customer service to our customer service at Chick-fil-A… While this may sound crazy (it kind of is LOL), it makes me realize just how important customer service is, and how well we do it. At around 9 this morning, I ran into a woman who was complaining about the ice bin in her room not being filled… the concierge responded by telling the woman that she complains too much… Rather than apologizing for their mistakes, the concierge refuted the guest’s complaint… MISTAKE #1 In addition to that incident, I was at lunch with my family when I noticed just how slow the service was… naturally, I thought “can you IMAGINE if the service was this slow at Chick-fil-A?! We would all be fired!” MISTAKE #2 All in all, it has been an eventful trip to say the least! There is one reoccurring theme in my life that I tend to notice…. There really is no place like Chick-fil-A. You can buy a $3.75 sandwich and still be treated like your spending thousands. Because respect is not about how much money you’re spending, it’s about the values of those who are providing the service. Serving. Something Chick-fil-A always does well. What Is Servant Leadership? Here at Chick-fil-A we talk a lot about "second-mile service..." but what does that really mean? Sure, the mints and free drink refills are a nice touch... but representing our culture through our service delves so much deeper. Reaching beyond the corporate walls... Stepping over the imaginary line put in place by society and touching the lives of those around you, not just making a profit. THAT is second-mile service. It all started with a small chicken restaurant who prioritized the customer experience over everything else. So perhaps you're a dreamer... maybe you're looking for that missing ingredient to your success. If so, let the story and culture of Chick-fil-A inspire you. Treat others with dignity and respect, remain fair and consistent with your products and above all else, help others succeed along the way. This is how you create something that lasts. So dream big, face the future head-on, and never lose sight of your goals. You get what you give... so give abundantly! Serving the CommunityAt Chick-fil-A, our motto is "To glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us and to have a positive influence on all who come into contact with Chick-fil-A.”
With this in mind, I think it's important to discuss all that this generous company has done for the community... What issue can Chick-fil-A help to solve? According to The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United States, approximately one third of all food produced in the world goes to waste... With that being said, a massive restaurant chain such as Chick-fil-A is bound to waste tons of food each year. How can this problem be addressed? Luckilly, the "Shared Table" food donation program allows certain Chick-fil-A's to donate their surplus food to those in need! While not all Chick-fil-A's use this program, those that do help to make 3,000 meals per restaurant each year! So... how does it work? Restaurants are matched with certain non-profit organizations close to the store. The restaurants put the food in a sanitary, refrigerated bin to be picked up by the organization in need! Then, hundreds of people whom cannot afford their own food, can enjoy some Chick-fil-A free of charge. It's impact on the community? Providing thousands of meals for people in the community each year helps us to uphold our company's values. To serve the community and give back. Minimizing waste and helping those in need is just two of the many ways Chick-fil-A serves the community. Be part of something bigger. Be Chick-fil-A. The Real WorldOften times, people say that school never prepared them for the real world.
You know… the world where people work, deal with customers, and handle problems all on their own. You see, Chick-fil-A has helped to prepare me in ways that school never could. 1. How to Deal with people In school, you can pretty much keep to yourself and you’ll be fine. However, in a work environment, you are forced to interact with people who have all different kinds of personalities. This means treating a crying baby and an old man with the same grace, ease, and confidence. 2. Problem Solving It’s mid lunch rush, the line is longer than you’ve ever seen it before and it just so happens that you messed up someones order. But it’s okay… you know why? Because you’ve been put under pressure before. You know your abilities and you are confident in handling the issue at hand. Despite making a mistake (which happens to the best of us), you remain calm, cool, and collected. 3. Remaining Positive If there’s one thing I could tell my younger self, it would be to STAY POSITIVE. Since starting my job at Chick-fil-A, I’ve been able to compare how a positive work environment functions as opposed to a negative one. Like clockwork. We lift each other up, crack a joke every now and then, always keep a smiles on our faces, and radiate joy to those around us. Because being happy is SO much easier than being sad! All in all, my Chick-fil-A job has prepared me for the real world in more ways than I could've ever imagined. I am forever grateful of the journey I am on with the most amazing company in the world... The real world. EAT MOR CHIKIN“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” -Mark Twain
We’re taught in kindergarten to be kind to one another; to share our toys and respect our neighbors. So why is it that most adults struggle with this concept? I mean think about it… if we are taught to be kind at such a young age, why do so many adults lose this concept over time? I know… In the bustling everyday life that most of us live, it’s a struggle to even get out of bed. But to get out of bed and BE KIND?!?! Thats asking a lot.. don't you think? This is how many of us live our lives. Most of us accept that having a mediocre attitude is the way we’ll go about our lives because, well… it’s easy. At Chick-fil-A, we don’t accept easy. The word “easy” isn’t even in our vocabulary. Because kindness isn't ALWAYS easy. However, it is ALWAYS worth it. We choose to be a bright spot in the community. A place where “mediocre” is nothing more than an 8-letter word and GREATNESS is our lowest standard. So order with one of our friendly and eager team members, get your food within seconds of ordering, ask for your 6 Chick-fil-A sauces and enjoy every bite of your juicy chicken sandwich. And while you're enjoying, remember that nothing great comes from mediocrity. Let our food, service, and culture inspire you to be great too! End GameAs most 19 year-old college kids would understand, I am at an age where I get asked about my future A LOT. Prior to working at Chick-fil-A, I had absolutely NO IDEA what I wanted to do with my future.
Me, being the dreamer that I am, contemplated many different career paths… Did I want to become a movie star? What if I ended world hunger? SHOULD I JUST MOVE TO CALIFORNIA AND AUDITION FOR AMERICAN IDOL?!?!?! While all of these things seemed like interesting career paths (to say the least), they were not exactly realistic… In the midst of contemplating my future career, I applied for a job at Chick-fil-A. What started off as a job to pay for my gas and food, turned into a passion for serving others. Going from someone who worked the cash register to the communications director at Chick-fil-A has made my future career path clear as day. Like feeling fresh air from an open window, the doors opened for me at Chick-fil-A have allowed me to see my future so clearly. It is for this reason that I say Chick-fil-A really is so much more than a job. It is the open window you have been looking for. The stepping stone to the life you have always wanted. Chick-fil-A is the future… My future! "Choose Joy"Over the course of my time at Chick-fil-A, SO MANY people have asked me questions about what it’s like to work there… In today’s blog, I’d like to give you guys some “insiders” on the world of Chick-fil-A based on questions I've been asked over the past year.
“How is the food made SO QUICKLY?!” To answer this, it’s important to understand how important teamwork really is at Chick-fil-A (especially in the kitchen). There truly is NON-STOP teamwork that flows like clockwork. After all, having 4 hard workers is worth more than 10 lazy ones! “What is in your Chick-fil-A sauce?” According to Chick-fil-A corporation, our Chick-fil-A sauce is a blend of honey mustard, barbecue, and ranch! This sauce was said to be created when a Chick-fil-A location was loading the honey mustard into a pump dispenser, where it was accidentally mixed with barbecue sauce! “How do you guys stay happy all the time?” While it’s virtually impossible to stay happy ALL the time, remaining positive and keeping a smile on your face all boils down to the values of Chick-fil-A. With hard work and busy lunch rushes, there are hundreds of lives we are impacting with our food every single day. Keeping a positive manner helps to better the community and spread kindness in a world that is lacking. With a job like this, it’s impossible not to be grateful and choose joy! |
